Week 7: Mission Wide Conference

Image
I had a bit of an accident while playing games with the district. I jumped a little too hard and landed awkwardly on someone's foot, spraining my ankle pretty badly. It was swollen and bruised pretty good, but I tried to push through and work as normal for a couple of days. Big mistake! The district finally forced me to call the mission nurse, and let's just say he wasn't pleased with me. He reminded me that I'm not invincible and that I need to take care of this body I'm in. I ended up taking it easy Monday night and Thursday, but it's actually made me more determined to get back out there and do the work. It's a reminder that we're not just working for the Lord, but we're also His servants, and we need to take care of ourselves to serve Him best. I've been incredibly blessed to be on this mission right before an apostolic visit! We had a Mission Wide Conference this past Saturday, and it was amazing to see the whole mission come together in ...

Join the Photo Album if you haven't: https://photos.app.goo.gl/QuW5JQQJL6emqhb68 I had an amazing experience last Pday! Our district went on a cave tour, and it was incredible. The cave was massive, and when we turned off our flashlights, it was pitch black we couldn't see our hands in front of our faces! It was a blast with the whole district, and some people even got pretty wet and muddy. Thankfully, we all made it out alive! After the cave, we had an unexpected surprise when a member offered to take all 12 of our district's missionaries to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. It was such a fun experience, and the bill was enormous, hundreds of dollars! It was amazing to see the member's kindness and generosity in treating us to dinner. Moments like these make our mission even more special. We recently had a Blitz in State College, and it was amazing as always. I was paired with Elder Verdine, and he's an incredible missionary with a powerful conversion story. He's ...

I'm absolutely loving it out here and feeling the Spirit every day. The people, the work, the opportunities, everything has been so incredible, and I feel truly blessed to be here. We recently had a blitz day where four elders from Altoona came down to help us cover more ground. My companion, Elder Eldredge, and I ventured into an area we don't usually visit, about 30 minutes from home, and had incredible success. We found 5 new people which is a teaching with principles and commitments and a return appointment. We also found 2 families among those finds which was such a blessing. In fact, Elder Wilkinson and his companion had similar success on the other side of Johnstown, finding 5 new people as well. In total this week we had 17 Finds which is more than all the weeks I've been here combined in just the span of 3 days. God is blessing this area right now and I am so grateful for it. Among the 17 finds this week, 3 of them included Elizabeth who we found on my first da...

GenCon! Week 4

I'm already heading onto the 5th week of this transfer, its crazy how fast everything is flying by. I'm so excited for the road ahead. We had a member meal with sister phillips, and she went above and beyond to make it special. She made these amazing homemade pepperoni rolls with cheese and pepperoni inside, they were absolutely delicious! I mean, I've had my fair share of pepperoni rolls, but hers were something else. Everyone raved about them, and they were gone in no time. What made it even more special was when she had us sign her book and take a photo to commemorate the occasion. I wish I had a copy of that photo! To top it all off, she sent us home with a ziplock bag full of those delicious pepperoni rolls. I'm not exaggerating when I say they were devoured within two days. Sister Phillips truly has a gift for making people feel loved and appreciated. Her kindness and generosity are an inspiration to all of us here in Johnstown, PA. We're so grateful for her...
