Week 30; General Conference

Not much happened this week, just a good week of hard work. On thursday we had an exchange with southside and I was with Elder Canfield. We had a great day. We talked this awesome kid downtown named Devin who was around our age. He was with the save the children charity group talking to people like us. He was super interested in our message especially in the Book of Mormon. We gave both him and his friend a copy and set up a time for a church tour. We also had a great lesson with our friend on date for baptism Isabella. We taught her the plan of salvation using a simple video, she loved it. Unfortunately she didn't make it to the church for conference and so we had to move her date back to the 19th. Elder Canfield is an awesome elder and we found lots of success together. We had a cool miracle happen on friday with our new friend William. We originally planned our day by going and stopping by referrals then heading downtown to talk to people. Elder Heelis had the impression to switch around those and go to downtown first then hit referrals after. When it came time to stop by referrals we stopped by William and we came to his house and he was outside chilling in his car. We had a long talk with him about changing his life around and coming closer Jesus Christ by reading the book of Mormon and progressing towards baptism. He then told us that he wasn't even supposed to be at his house and that it was a miracle we stopped by at that time. We then looked at the past report and it said that he usually works until 3:00. When we stop by it was just after 3:00. It is most important to listen to for Impressions from the Holy Ghost especially when they don't make sense. We have transfers this week and we get news on Tuesday for where everyone will be going. It is most probable that I'll be staying with my current companion Elder Heelis in Northside for another transfer. It is actually so crazy how fast this 6 weeks went by, my mission is going by faster and faster each transfer. The more I grow in my testimony of this gospel and love for God, I'm finding more joy and the work is going by much faster day by day. President Dallin H. Oaks' message at the April 2026 General Conference Sunday Morning Session shines like a beacon of hope. He reminded us that the Resurrection is a universal promise, extending to every soul and every living thing, including the earth. In wake of the second coming after he starts his personal reign, the earth will be renewed and recieve it's paradisiacal gloly. This is the same with us regardless of our path in life. This truth underscores the inherent worth of each individual, a child of God, deserving of love, respect, and fairness. As followers of Christ, we're called to embody the love and compassion that He exemplified. As individuals strive to live worthy to meet Christ, "it helps us live together in love in this life in anticipation of joyful reunions and associations in the next," he taught. In contrast to today’s "toxic" culture of hostility toward adversaries, President Oaks encouraged members to follow the Savior’s teachings to "love God and neighbor" and "love your enemies." "Today we might say that we are commanded to love our adversaries," he said. This does sound illogical, but God doesn't need logic, the adversary does. God knows what's best and how we can be have the most joy in this eternal life. This isn't always easy, but it's in the striving to love that we find peace and become peacemakers. Joseph Smith's wisdom to "pour forth love to all people" resonates deeply. It's a call to action, a reminder that our choices have the power to uplift or divide. By choosing love, we choose to see the divine in each person, fostering a world where fairness and kindness prevail. President Oaks reminded us that Christ is the Perfect Guide, and we are imperfect followers, we should strive to follow His example. In doing so, we become instruments of peace, spreading love and understanding in a world that desperately needs it. President Oaks really emphasized being peacemakers and disciples of Jesus Christ. "As followers of Christ, let us follow Him by forgoing contention and by using the language and methods of peacemakers," he said. "In our families and other personal relationships, let us avoid what is harsh and hateful. Let us seek to be holy, like our Savior." With Love, Elder Batman
