Week 37; Transfers

Photo Album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/QuW5JQQJL6emqhb68 On Tuesday we had an exchange with Southside right before transfers on Thursday. I was with Elder Williams and it was a pleasant day. We had an amazing meal and an amazing reunion with my Grandpa who just finished his senior mission in Philadelphia. We had lunch at The Nook in Pittsburgh and it was so good. Our day was kind of cooked since we had a few lessons that didn’t go through, which pushed everything back. We still had a member meal with crazy Linda and then a lesson with our friend Trinity. We taught a very in-depth Plan of Salvation lesson and the Spirit was strong. Later we found this cool guy named Dave outside his house wearing a Lakers jersey with a Glock at his feet. We chatted with him about the Book of Mormon and set up a lesson with him and his two teenage sons wearing King Von shirts. What a day. We had transfers this week and Elder Heelis sadly left his reign of Northside. Elder Lunsford replaced him. I jus...

Week 37; Fogo De Chao

Photo Album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/QuW5JQQJL6emqhb68 On Saturday we had a wild day to say the least. We had a lesson with our friend Trinity at the church and did missionary work as usual. We then got a call from the AP's saying to come to Fogo De Chao for both lunch and dinner hours stacked. All I can say is what an experience, we spent quite a bit of money but it is just some incredible mission lore that I have now. Afterward we then blitz'd the AP's for the rest of the day. I was with Elder Verdine and we just had a great night. We had a lesson with one of their friends Arraina who's getting baptized soon. We went over Priesthood and temples and she basically already knew what they were so that was fun. We then ditched the cars from 6-9pm and proselyted on bikes for the rest of the night, it was the most fun I've had proselyting. We biked around and taught some amazing people and ended our night. What a day. We had another exchange with Southside and I wa...

Week 35; Happy Mother’s Day

Photo Album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/QuW5JQQJL6emqhb68 Dear Sisters and Mothers, Happy Mothers Day!! I just want to start off by saying I have the best mother so you can't beat out Betsy Batman so I wouldn't try to. From the streets of Philadelphia in a white shirt and name tag, I see your influence every single day. "Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children" (The Family: A Proclamation to the World), and that role isn’t cultural, it’s eternal. President Russell M. Nelson declared, "A mother’s influence extends to eternity." You partner with Heavenly Father in "His work and His glory, to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man" (Moses 1:39) each time you teach a child to pray, read the Book of Mormon before bed, or bear quiet testimony in your home. We rejoice in Eve because her courage made motherhood possible, and we honor Mary because she answered God's calling, "Behold the handmaid of the L...

Week 34; ZoCo

Photo Album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/QuW5JQQJL6emqhb68 Friday was a packed day with the whole west side of the mission at the Pittsburgh Temple for service from 9am to 12:30pm. Pitt North, Pitt West, and Pittsburgh zones were all there together. We moved around 1000 bags of mulch , and each one was 40lbs. My body is feeling it now sore all over. That’s 40,000 pounds of mulch moved as half a mission. Pretty wild to see that many elders and sisters working side by side for a few hours. After service we hit Buffalo Wild Wings with the Southside elders, then exchanged with them for the day. I was with Elder Canfield. Since the morning took most of the day, we didn’t get to a ton of proselyting. We did have a lesson with our recent convert Isabella though. We watched the Brother of Jared Book of Mormon video with her and talked about sharing the light of the gospel with everyone. It was a good day. I love being with Elder Canfield, he’s an awesome elder. Two of our progressing friends...
